This may include your IP address, the date and time of access, the page requested, the browser used and the operating system. This data is not merged with other data sources and is not analysed by us.
Hosting is based on our legitimate interest in a secure, fast and efficient provision of our website by a professional provider (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

When you use this website, various personal data is collected. Personal data is data that can be used to identify you personally. This privacy notice explains what data we collect, what we use it for, and how and for what purpose this happens.
Please note that data transmission over the internet (e.g. when communicating by e-mail) may have security gaps. Complete protection of data against access by third parties is not possible.
The controller responsible for data processing on this website is:
Leon D. Lotter
Germany
E-mail: leondlotter@gmail.com
The controller is the natural or legal person who alone or jointly with others decides on the purposes and means of processing personal data (e.g. names, e-mail addresses).
Unless a more specific storage period is stated in this privacy notice, your personal data remains with us until the purpose for processing no longer applies. If you make a justified request for deletion or withdraw your consent to data processing, your data will be deleted unless we have other legally permissible reasons for storing it (e.g. retention periods under tax or commercial law); in the latter case, the data will be deleted once these reasons no longer apply.
If you have consented to data processing, we process your personal data on the basis of Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. If you have explicitly consented to the transfer of personal data to third countries, the processing is also based on Art. 49(1)(a) GDPR. If you have consented to access to information on your device, the processing is additionally based on Section 25(1) TDDDG (German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act). Consent can be withdrawn at any time. If your data is required for pre-contractual measures or to perform a contract, we process it on the basis of Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR. Data may also be processed on the basis of our legitimate interest under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The legal bases relevant in each individual case are explained in the following sections of this privacy notice.
We only pass on personal data to external parties if this is necessary to provide this website (hosting, see above), if you have consented (Altmetric and shields.io, see below), if we are legally obliged to do so, or if another legal basis permits the transfer.
Some data processing operations are only possible with your explicit consent. You can withdraw consent you have already given at any time. The lawfulness of the processing carried out before the withdrawal remains unaffected.
IF DATA PROCESSING IS BASED ON ART. 6(1)(E) OR (F) GDPR, YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO OBJECT TO THE PROCESSING OF YOUR PERSONAL DATA AT ANY TIME ON GROUNDS RELATING TO YOUR PARTICULAR SITUATION; THIS ALSO APPLIES TO PROFILING BASED ON THESE PROVISIONS. THE LEGAL BASIS ON WHICH A PROCESSING IS BASED CAN BE FOUND IN THIS PRIVACY NOTICE. IF YOU OBJECT, WE WILL NO LONGER PROCESS YOUR AFFECTED PERSONAL DATA UNLESS WE CAN DEMONSTRATE COMPELLING LEGITIMATE GROUNDS FOR THE PROCESSING THAT OVERRIDE YOUR INTERESTS, RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS, OR THE PROCESSING SERVES THE ESTABLISHMENT, EXERCISE OR DEFENCE OF LEGAL CLAIMS (OBJECTION UNDER ART. 21(1) GDPR).
In the event of violations of the GDPR, data subjects have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in particular in the member state of their habitual residence, their place of work or the place of the alleged violation. This right exists without prejudice to other administrative or judicial remedies.
You have the right to have data that we process automatically on the basis of your consent or in fulfilment of a contract handed over to you or to a third party in a common, machine-readable format. If you request the direct transfer of the data to another controller, this will only be done if it is technically feasible.
Within the framework of the applicable legal provisions, you have the right at any time to free information about your stored personal data, its origin and recipients and the purpose of the data processing and, if applicable, a right to correction or deletion of this data. You can contact us at any time about this and other questions regarding personal data.
You have the right to request the restriction of the processing of your personal data. You can contact us about this at any time. The right to restriction of processing exists in the following cases:
If you have restricted the processing of your personal data, this data – apart from its storage – may only be processed with your consent or for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims or for the protection of the rights of another natural or legal person or for reasons of important public interest of the European Union or a member state.
For security reasons and to protect the transmission of confidential content, this site uses SSL/TLS encryption. You can recognise an encrypted connection by the address line of the browser changing from “http://” to “https://” and by the lock symbol in your browser line.
If SSL/TLS encryption is activated, the data you transmit to us cannot be read by third parties.
We hereby object to the use of contact data published in the context of the legal notice obligation for sending advertising and information material that has not been expressly requested. The operator of this website expressly reserves the right to take legal action in the event of unsolicited advertising, such as spam e-mails.
If you contact us by e-mail, your request including all resulting personal data (name, request) will be stored and processed by us for the purpose of handling your request. We do not pass on this data without your consent.
This data is processed on the basis of Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR if your request is related to the performance of a contract or is necessary for pre-contractual measures. In all other cases, the processing is based on our legitimate interest in the effective handling of requests sent to us (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
The data you send us in contact requests remains with us until you ask us to delete it or the purpose for storing it no longer applies (e.g. after your request has been processed). Mandatory statutory provisions – in particular statutory retention periods – remain unaffected.

On the main page, current Altmetric scores (attention in media, social networks, etc.) can be shown for the publications, and the current number of GitHub stars and forks in the software descriptions. This content is not loaded automatically: at first, you only see static links and a notice at the bottom of the screen, and no data is transferred to the providers named below. Only when you click “OK” in this notice does your browser load content from their servers. In doing so, in particular your IP address, the date and time of the request, information about your browser and operating system, the address of this website and the requested publications (DOIs) or software repositories are transmitted to the providers.
Altmetric: The provider is Digital Science & Research Solutions Ltd, 6 Briset Street, London EC1M 5NR, United Kingdom, together with its US affiliate Digital Science & Research Solutions Inc. The script for the badges is delivered via the content delivery network Amazon CloudFront (Amazon Web Services), the data from servers at altmetric.com. The European Commission has adopted an adequacy decision for the United Kingdom (Art. 45 GDPR). Data may also be transferred to the USA; Digital Science’s US company and Amazon Web Services, Inc. are certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (DPF). For more information, see Altmetric’s privacy policy.
shields.io: The star and fork counts are loaded as images from the service shields.io (img.shields.io), an open-source project that retrieves the numbers from GitHub. According to its own information, shields.io does not store logs of requests and does not use cookies; it uses the service providers Fly.io and Cloudflare for hosting and delivery, so your data may also be transferred to the USA. For more information, see the shields.io privacy policy.
The processing is based exclusively on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you give by clicking “OK”. Insofar as data is transferred to third countries without an adequacy decision to recipients without DPF certification, this is based on your explicit consent (Art. 49(1)(a) GDPR). These countries may not have a level of data protection comparable to that of the EU; in particular, authorities there may be able to access the data. Your consent only applies to the respective page view; we do not store your decision. You can withdraw it at any time: if you reload or leave the page, the content will only be loaded again after another click.
This website contains links to other websites, e.g. to journals, GitHub and social networks. Merely visiting our site does not transfer any data to these providers. Only when you follow a link do the privacy policies of the respective provider apply.
